"For our particular business, you can't beat it," says Darrell Waddell of Glass World.
The Challenge:
Darrell Waddell has been working at his dad's store Glass World since he was 13 years old. Now 27, he's pushed his fair share of the paper work at his family business, which has since grown to be the largest glass company in British Columbia.
So when the glass company decided to use a new accounting software program, he thought it would save him some time. Instead, the new software didn't meet the specific needs of Glass World, a BC company with an annual revenue of $4 million.
"It was horrible. The people who owned it didn't fulfill their end of the bargain. We jumped ship- enough was enough. The people who offered support were absolute lunatics." And to his chagrin, the support staff charged him $175 when he forgot his password '99.'
The Solution:
He switched to Comeleon not too long after and has since recommended the software accounting program to four other companies. He says the user-friendly program is "tailor-made" to fit the operations at Glass World. Waddell himself collaborated with Comeleon staff for two years to customize the program. "For our particular business, you can't beat it," Waddell said.
Using Comeleon has given Waddell more control over the amount of inventory he orders from the suppliers. "It goes right back to the bill of materials and controls inventory. We have long lead times when we have to order from our suppliers," said Waddell.
The software gives exact measurements, calculates commission figures for sales people, precisely tracks products sold and has different databases--all adding up to savings in time and money for Glass World.
